STIHL Smart Connectors


The STIHL Smart Connector and Smart Connector 2 A collect relevant usage data and then forward it to the STIHL connected app or a STIHL connected box.

The STIHL Connected Box quickly reliably and automatically transmits usage data collected with a Smart Connector or a battery with integrated connectivity to the STIHL Cloud. Available in a mobile version for your vehicles and a stationary version for storage rooms and workshops.

STIHL batteries


The STIHL AR 2000 L and AR 3000 L backpack batteries and the STIHL AP 500 S battery can be connected and managed via an integrated Bluetooth® interface. This means that the charge status operating time and serial number are visible in the STIHL connected app and the STIHL connected portal.

Which of my machines and batteries are compatible?

Which devices are compatible with the Smart Connector?


In principle many STIHL products are compatible with the Smart Connector. In addition the Smart Connector can be used with machines from other manufacturers. However the full functionality of the STIHL Smart Connector is only guaranteed for fully supported STIHL products. This means that for these products the installation location of the Smart Connector is predetermined and in addition the recommended product-specific maintenance instructions are already stored in the system.


Which devices are compatible with the Smart Connector 2 A?


The Smart Connector 2 A is only compatible with STIHL cordless machines specially prepared for this purpose. More compatible machines will follow soon. Please note: Machines specially developed for the Smart Connector 2 A are not compatible with the Smart Connector. Furthermore the Smart Connector 2 A cannot be used with products from other brands and STIHL products that are not prepared for this.


Which of my STIHL batteries are compatible?


Currently the backpack batteries AR 2000/3000 L and the battery AP 500 S are compatible and can be connected to each other within the framework of STIHL connected. More models will follow.

How do I perform an initial installation of STIHL Connected?

To use the STIHL connected functions you must first register once via the STIHL connected portal or the STIHL connected app. The selected user ID will later be valid for the application and the portal. Download and install the STIHL connected app – for iOS or Android – and log in with your access data. On our support page you will find a more detailed step-by-step guide that will help you set up STIHL connected.


How do I add machines and batteries to STIHL Connected?

Add Machines

Machines compatible with the Smart Connector can be added via the STIHL connected app and the STIHL connected portal.


STIHL Connected app:


After starting the STIHL connected app you will find an overview of your products under 'Equipment'. Using the + icon in the navigation bar at the top of the screen you can add new products by selecting "STIHL Product". Then simply follow the instructions on the screen of your smartphone.

Machines that are compatible with the Smart Connector 2 A can only be added via the STIHL connected app. To do this select the "STIHL product with Smart Connector 2 A" button in the navigation bar at the top of the screen after clicking on the "+".

Products from other brands can be added via the app and portal. To do this select the 'Other manufacturers' button.


Adding Batteries


To add batteries you can choose between the STIHL Connected App and the STIHL Connected Portal. To do this select the “+" under “Equipment" and then the “STIHL Product" button and follow the further instructions on the screen. Also make sure that the Bluetooth® interface is enabled on both the battery and the mobile device.

How do I set up the Connected Box?

Scan the QR code on the back of the STIHL connected Box with a smartphone to open the configuration page. If this is not possible you can also enter the access data manually.


You can use any terminal device with WLAN functionality (e.g. smartphone tablet laptop) to enter data.
