STIHL saw chains: factory precision


STIHL saw chains are a model of Swiss precision: they have been manufactured on special machines at the STIHL plant in Wil Switzerland for decades. STIHL also developed and built these machines itself. This product focus makes all the difference: Today STIHL can offer chainsaw chains for every application every performance class and every chainsaw product. In practice this means that STIHL saw chains deliver excellent cutting performance have a long service life and are very quiet even on chainsaws from other manufacturers.

The oliomatic lubrication system

This lubrication system reduces friction and wear on STIHL saw chains thus extending the service life of the saw attachment. Fine oil channels in the drive links guide the oil to the chain joints and to the rolling surfaces of the links. In addition the links are provided with round grooves on both sides in which the chain oil collects. This serves as a lubricating film between the links and the sliding surfaces of the guide rail.


Hard chrome layer

Each saw tooth is carefully manufactured from special steel during several production cycles. In order to increase wear resistance during sawing the tooth roof is also electrolytically chrome-plated.


Stretch forward

STIHL chains are subjected to a high and constant tensile load at the end of the production process. This pre-stretching increases durability and reduces wear because the elongation during the first use is kept to a minimum. This also significantly reduces the effort required to re-tension the chain.


Increased comfort

Almost all STIHL saw chains are comfort saw chains. You can recognise them by the "C" that is pressed into the cutting tooth. Thanks to a modified shape of the tooth frame vibrations during sawing are reduced by up to 70%.


Wear marks

The saw teeth of STIHL saw chains are provided with markings at the base of the teeth. These markings serve to detect wear and facilitate sharpening. They indicate how far the tooth can be ground down or worn down.


Hardened rivets

Each rivet is induction hardened in a powerful high frequency field. This creates an exceptionally strong bond.


Smooth hinge holes

Thanks to a special punching process the hinge holes of STIHL saw chains are mirror-smooth. This improves the mobility of the chain and extends its service life.


These special properties ensure that STIHL saw chains in combination with a guide bar also developed by STIHL and a STIHL engine deliver optimum cutting performance. With the STIHL .325.00" chains everyone can work tirelessly and always rely on the best performance of all STIHL saw chains. The STIHL .32 1 106.30" Pro saw chains are available in five versions: Super Super 3 Micro Micro 3 and Duro 3 for guide bars with a groove width of 1.30 mm.

Ematic system

Reinforced chain conveyor

Electromagnetic induction hardening makes the entire chain conveyor even more resistant to any form of wear. The service life of the saw blade is considerably longer.


Closed bearing on the front wheel

Our Rollomatic saw blades are equipped with a front wheel with a covered roller bearing. This ensures that the saw chain wears less during rotation and prevents the ingress of corrosive dirt. In addition the closed front wheel bearings require less maintenance and last longer thanks to permanent lubrication. It saves time and is good for the environment and your wallet.


Symmetry

Thanks to their completely symmetrical shape STIHL saw blades are reversible. This means that both sides are loaded evenly.


Special light

STIHL offers particularly light saw blades thanks to their special construction. You can recognise these saw blades by the word "Light" in the product name. Rollomatic E Light saw blades are equipped with electrically welded steel plates that are left open over a large area and sprayed with glass fibre reinforced polyamide. In Rollomatic ES Light saw blades the open area is milled and then welded using a special laser process. This results in a significant weight saving compared to previous saw blades.

The innovative STIHL Light 04 saw blade makes working outdoors even more pleasant and safer thanks to the improved system weight optimised handling on the trunk and low kickback tendency as well as the usual stability. The Light 04 saw blade is designed as a slim version for theMS261 MS 271AndMS 291This means that you can also easily equip existing drive units with the newly developed saw blades.
