225° ROTATING BLOW PIPE
The operation of the blower pipe is fully electric and is located on the user-friendly joystick. Within a radius of 215°, the user can easily eject the milled snow to the location of their choice.
THE RED BUTTON
When reversing during snow removal, it is advisable to lift the cutter head. To do this quickly and efficiently, ELIET provides a red push button on the joystick that can be operated with the index finger while moving it backward. An important advantage is that the operator determines how high to lift the cutter head, which can save time if the cutter head needs to be lowered immediately afterwards to drill into the snow again.
LEFT-HAND OPERATION
In the design of the instrument panel, ELIET ensured that the operator's left hand, which normally rests passively on the dead man's lever, can still contribute to the control of the snowplow. A small electric joystick is positioned so that it can be operated with the left thumb. It can be used to control the position of the cutter head. By activating the left hand, the operator can simultaneously control almost all fundamental organs of the machine without having to move their hands.
MILLING HEAD CONTROL
The Snowbob's milling head has a working width of 90 cm and a working height of 62 cm. In collaboration with Parker, an electro-hydraulic piston was developed that allows the milling head to be lifted within a range of -30 mm to +200 mm. The milling head moves from its lowest to its highest working position in less than 5 seconds. The same actuator is used to tilt the milling head laterally 18° to both the left and the right.
HEATING
When the temperature has dropped well below zero and an icy wind is blowing that lowers the wind chill by a few more degrees, one of the Snowbob's key added values comes to full fruition. The Snowbob is equipped with an operator heating system. The machine's motor is fully enclosed within the housing. The cooling air used to keep the motor and transmission at optimal operating temperature is rerouted within the machine so that the heated air is blown towards the operator. Warm air flows onto the operator's lower body through a large grille at the rear of the machine. A narrow grille above the instrument panel directs the warm air to the hands on the controls. The machine's handles are also heated by the warm air.
Professional users who work with the machine for several hours daily greatly appreciate this feature.
TRACKS
Just as tires are extremely important for the performance of a racing car, the tracks also help determine the efficiency of a snowplow. ELIET chooses the top quality of Bridgestone. The track, specially developed for snow, features a modified rubber compound and a special pattern for optimal grip. The track has a cast iron core, providing good stability. To work efficiently, the snowplow must always maintain optimal grip on the snow. The weight distribution of the machine is important for this, but the contact surface with the snow remains essential. The Snowbob is equipped with 200 mm wide tracks that have a contact zone with the ground of 700 mm.
PENDULUM ROLLS
Beneath the track of the ELIET Snowbob are two support rollers with a pendulum suspension. This has the advantage that the track easily adapts to the unstable terrain over which a snowplow often operates. Maximum contact with the ground is thereby guaranteed, giving the machine optimal stability. This is further enhanced by the fact that the tread of the rollers has been chosen to be as wide as possible. The pendulum rollers are robustly constructed and equipped with dustproof ball bearings that are additionally protected by protective shields.
Milling
Anyone looking at the cutter sees durability. The spiral has an aggressive tooth shape that bites firmly through icy snow. ELIET opted for 6 mm Hardox steel, which makes the cutter virtually wear-resistant, even in the toughest conditions.
The milling cutter rests inside the housing on sturdy cast iron bearing blocks equipped with lubrication points.
Milling head protection:
a. Armor
The reduction gearbox is equipped with sturdy armor that offers double protection in the event of a collision with a hidden obstacle. The wedge shape of this armor ensures less resistance and better guidance of the snow to the suction turbine.
b. Slip clutch
Replacing shear bolts is no longer a concern with the Eliet Snowbob. Eliet protects the cutter head using a friction disc. If the cutter is blocked by a stone, for example, the friction clutch slips. In that case, simply removing the obstacle is sufficient to get back to work. The slipping moment is therefore
EASE OF MAINTENANCE
In addition to the reliability of a machine, it is at least equally important for the user that maintenance can be carried out as quickly as possible and with the least effort. Just like on racing cars, the side doors of the snowplow swing upwards, providing easy access to all parts requiring maintenance, such as the engine, belts, hydraulic filters, and more.
CARDAN DRIVE
The movable milling head is driven by a cardan transmission. This has the significant advantage that the milling head can be disassembled very quickly for maintenance. Furthermore, other attachments can also be mounted and driven on the versatile support system.
