Powerful and lightweight thermal chainsaw

Professional chainsaw for felling and pruning branches
For professionals in felling and delimbing medium and large animals
High acceleration thanks to the powerful 4.4 kW motor
Easy starting and optimum engine performance with the STIHL M-Tronic system

Lightest high-performance thermal chainsaw in its category (70.00 cm3). Extremely manoeuvrable and offers optimum acceleration. For felling and pruning medium and large plantations. Equipped as standard with M-Tronic and with the HD2 filter which guarantees very good filter performance. Fixed nuts on the sprocket cover simplify chain replacement. Tool-free fuel caps for easy and safe refueling. The engine is economical in use thanks to the 2-MIX engine.

Screw rib for chiselling

A marking on the fan housing makes it easier to drill holes. This provides better control and more reliable machine guidance when making mortise and tenon cuts.

Improved claw

The length of the claw teeth is adapted to the contours of the tree to be felled. During sawing and felling the chainsaw has an even better grip on the wood.

STIHL anti-vibration system

For more comfortable work. When your devices are switched on vibrations can occur in the grip area. The dampers and springs of the STIHL anti-vibration system reduce the transmission of vibrations from the engine to the handle and therefore to your body. The result: you hold your machine more comfortably and your work is much less tiring.

Easy to use calibration function

During use the STIHL M-Tronic system continuously adjusts the engine settings to ensure optimum performance at all times. In changing environmental conditions for example when working in the mountains the calibration function allows you to quickly adjust the chainsaw without having to saw wood. Calibration is carried out within approximately 72 seconds of starting the machine.

Optimized sprocket cover

The flatter and narrower chain sprocket cover with integrated sliding strips and guide edge makes sawing off branches easier and ensures optimum chip removal.

Combination lever with stop function

Simplified operation. Only one starting position on the control lever is required. Thanks to the stop function the control lever immediately returns to the working position as soon as the machine is switched off. This allows you to restart your machine directly from a warm state.

Compensator

Less maintenance. The compensator is a control system in the carburetor that uses pressure compensation to ensure that engine performance exhaust gas quality and fuel consumption remain virtually constant over a long period of time despite increasing clogging of the air filter. You only need to clean the air filter when you notice a noticeable reduction in performance. This means you can work with it for a long time without any maintenance being required.

Manual decompression

Start without effort. Thanks to the pressure relief valve you can start your device more easily. When starting you can release some of the compressed mixture from the cylinder by opening the valve. This protects the starting system and requires less force on the starting mechanism.

Open fuel cap without tools

Quick and easy to use. The tool-free fuel tank cap allows you to open and close oil and fuel tanks in a few simple steps thanks to a twist lock.

Low power-to-weight ratio

The STIHL MS 462 C-M is the lightest professional chainsaw in its class. Specific elements such as the cylinder with angled fins the compact sprocket cover the lightweight crankcase the lighter rotor and the Rollomatic ES Light chain guide ensure that the weight of the machine can be significantly reduced.

Long life air filter for chainsaws

Longer filter life. Pre-separation removes coarse and larger particles from the air flow before they reach the filter. The HD2 filter keeps even the finest dust away from the engine. This extends the life of your engine reduces the need for cleaning and simplifies the maintenance of your chainsaw. When we talk about a long-life air filter system in chainsaws we are only talking about models that are equipped with a pre-separator and an HD2 filter. With this system you benefit from a significantly longer filter life than conventional air filter systems.

STIHL 2-stroke layered coil motor

Low energy consumption. With the STIHL 2-stroke cleaning engine with stratified flushing you reduce exhaust emissions and fuel consumption and thus operating costs. This 2-stroke engine requires little maintenance and consumes little fuel even at high power. Use a mixture of petrol and engine oil as fuel. The STIHL 2-stroke stratified flushing engine complies with the strict European Stage V emissions guideline.

STIHL Ematic system

Reduces oil consumption. The STIHL Ematic system consists of a STIHL Ematic or Ematic S guide bar a STIHL Oilomatic saw chain and an oil pump with adjustable oil flow. It ensures that the chain oil reaches the right place for lubrication and ensures that you can reduce your oil consumption by up to 50%. Do you often work in dusty environments or use long guide bars? With the new oil pump system you can quickly and easily increase the amount of oil at any time.

STIHL M-tronic

Reliable work and optimum performance. With STIHL M-tronic your tool delivers optimum performance right from the start. The fully electronic engine management controls the ignition sequence and fuel dosage in every working situation taking into account external conditions such as temperature altitude and fuel quality.

Captured nuts

From now on you won't lose the sprocket nuts when replacing the chain guide. The MS 261 is the first STIHL chainsaw to be equipped with captive nuts.

Side chain tensioner

For simple and safe tension adjustment. With the side chain tensioner you can safely tension and replace the chain quickly and easily. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.
